Subject Aim

This subject is designed to provide students with learning in the workplace that supports, illustrates and extends the theoretical and practical learning provided through the classroom environment. Students will experience the workplace, apply and broaden your professional and theoretical skills and form a network of industry contacts.

The concepts and principles of a chosen specialisation will be examined in the work setting providing substantial (student) learning and benefits to the employer through the introduction of new ideas at the forefront of the discipline.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Evaluate the role of practical application of academic learning in contributing to career success.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in communication and practical workplace skills.
  3. Appraise workplace culture and skills required to meet employer expectations.
  4. Reflect on the work placement integrated learning experience to critique the demands of the sports industry.

Student Assessment

Students are required to prepare for assessments by reading the subject matter in course notes, handouts and readings as well as independently researching. Class work and practical application of theory assist in reinforcing the importance of this subject’s topics. Each student is required to participate in class discussions and activities.
