ISCA students attend the 2019 Melbourne Sports Summit

Ian Evans

AFL powerhouse Hawthorn. Field session at Melbourne Storm H/Q. Visit to Super Rugby team the Melbourne Rebels. Training session with Melbourne United. Our ISCA students had an amazing experience at the second annual ISCA Melbourne Sports Summit – one of the premier field trips for sport management students in Australia and a truly unique, experiential learning opportunity. Other highlights included our Leadership dinner with Olympians Mark Worthington (basketball) and Cameron McKenzie McHarg (rowing), as well as attending the cutting edge Australian Sports Analytics conference. Students had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and check out the world-leading high performance facilities.

Aside from getting a first-hand look at some of the country’s premier sports clubs and institutions such as the Melbourne Storm, Hawthorn AFL FC and NBL grand finalists Melbourne United, students received the opportunity to attend the 2019 Sports Analytics Conference.

This year’s speakers are headlined by Carles Segura from FC Barcelona, as well as speakers from the AFL, National Rugby League (NRL), National Basketball League, Cricket Australia & the BBL.

“The speakers and behind the scenes look within top sport organisations were really impressive and I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with students and industry leaders throughout Melbourne. The networking opportunities provided to me from the trip helped me to experience first-hand the marketing, corporate partnerships, high performance & athlete welfare divisions within professional sport, and the Sports Analytics conference was a lot of fun.”
